Do you know what kind of fruit this is?

It is the Cashew .Nicaragua’s tropical tree.

The cashew tree is found mainly in the Pacific coast of Nicaragua, and in parts of the Caribbean coast. Its fruiting period occurs in summer from December to April. In Nicaragua we have two types of cashew: yellow apple and red apple. The outer seed is the true fruit. This is roasted and you end up with a delicious tasting fruit which is sold by street vendors.

The seed is also used in the preparation of our foods such as the Granola Fruit Plate and glazed ribs.  Just a few of the delicious dishes you can enjoy at Jícaro Island Eco Lodge.

In view of the majestic Mombacho Volcano near the Granada Isletas, Jicaro caters to honeymooners with exceptional food and relaxing spa services.
