The same group from the last blog post, still wanting to know more about Nicaragua, decided to take a ride in a 4×4 heading to Mombacho Volcano that in Nauahtl means inclined mountain. When we reached the top, there was a soft, cool mist that touched our face while we walked around the crater trail. This trail leads around an inactive crater which is covered by the vegetation of the cloud forest. We saw mammals in their wild habitat, bromeliads, orchids and dwarf forests that are home to countless types of wildlife like a salamander that is a unique species here. At the end of the tour, they were very pleased to have explored such natural beauty.
