One romantic getaway, two private islands – introducing Jicaro’s secret sister island on Lake Nicaragua
The tale of Jicaro Island has become something of a legend since its opening. Whilst on vacation in Nicaragua in January of 2007, Karen Emanuel – a successful British entrepreneur – walked into a restaurant and saw a notice proclaiming “Island for Sale”. Partly as fantasy and partly recognizing that Nicaragua had a lot to offer, she took a short boat ride out to visit, and within a few weeks of arriving back home to the bleak London winter, she’d wired a deposit for the island to the owners. But a little-known secret… in addition to Jicaro – now one of the newest National Geographic Unique Lodges of the World –, Karen had also bought a second island.
While Jicaro became the natural choice for an intimate, luxury eco lodge, sister island Níspero, with its more complicated topography, lay untouched for years. Until now that is! The Jicaro team have been hard at work creating a brand new experience for guests of the Lodge, elevating the meaning of relaxation, privacy, and romance to a whole new level. Honeymooners and loved-up guests are invited to enjoy Níspero Island all to themselves, a totally exclusive and memorable experience of beach lounging, gourmet picnic and barbecuing, and ultimate privacy. With optional open-air massages and comfy hammocks too, a daytrip to nearby Níspero is a romantic dream for two!
Jicaro Island Lodge is proud to become one of few destinations worldwide able to include an even-more-private private island in its already impressive list of amenities! During a stay at the Lodge, guests also have complimentary access to kayaks and paddleboards for exploring both islands, and a picturesque floating deck complete with beach chairs for those who want to sample the artificial island life too!
